As a yoga teacher, I’ve met a lot of people, that say things like “I want to try yoga, but I’m not very flexible.” Maybe they believe Yoga is only for people that are very supple and can turn into pretzel-like positions. Or do you think that you to try yoga itself – must be in the location which is perfect – what perfect poses.
But nothing could be further from the truth. Actually, there’s also flexibility isn’t always a good thing. Walking right into a pose without focusing on the strength of muscles often leads to injuries.
The wonderful practice yoga is that you can start where you are. If you are inflexible and rigid, if you have arthritis or weaknesses in the joints or back, you can do problems are still the same pose as a flexible person. You just simple adjustments and perhaps Yoga props.
In my courses, I use blocks, blankets, chairs and other props to support students in attitudes. The idea of using props, to assist with Poznań was developed by B.K.S. Iyengar. This makes accessible the poses for everyone.
With props is especially beneficial if you have limitations such as stiffness, wound back or recover from an injury. There is always a possibility to enjoy the attitude and to receive its services. You can a brace as put your hand on a block in Trikonasana (triangle pose) or with a blanket for child pose.
Finally, the props can no longer needed with regular practice. When you practice yoga by start to feel where you are and go from there, your body strong, fit and wonderful no matter what your fitness or flexibility level.
Thats true Yoga when body, mind and soul come together. If the posture is comfortable and stable, and your breathing is smooth and effortless, you practice yoga. Bring your attention to your breath and enjoy your body and how, how, which feels it. It doesn’t matter whether you’re flexible or not.
When the practice of Yoga is over, you feel refreshed, relaxed and high re-energises. Yoga is for everyone regardless of level of fitness or flexibility. The benefits of yoga are the right variation of each pose for you to do and not reach in advanced stages.
